Matt Covington
Covington Grabs Runner-up Result at Creek.
CG Motorsports. Glenpool, Ok. (May 23th, 2018) Matt Covington used the break in the Lucas Oil National Tour schedule to race close to home, finishing 2nd with the ASCS Red River Region at Creek County Speedway.
Matt was able to rally from the 8th position in the heat to post a 4th place finish. The result put Covington in the redraw where he was able to grab the 4th starting spot for the feature. Once the feature was underway, Matt was able to move forward and eventually claim the 2nd spot.
“We were decent Friday night, but not good enough to win,” stated Matt. “The heat race really helped get us a good feature starting spot and we took advantage of it the best we could. But Sam was a little better than us. And once I got into second, I was just trying to finish the race without making any mistakes. That’s two runner-up finishes at Creek this year. Hopefully this practice sets us up for a win come speedweek.”
This weekend Covington and the team are headed down to Texas to run with the Gulf South Region in order to prepare for speedweek at Devil’s Bowl in June.
