Covington Ready For Northwest Swing After Strong Speedweeks
CG Motorsports- Glenpool, Ok. (June 20, 2017) Matt Covington heads northwest after a solid 2017 Bob Westphal ASCS National Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek.
Covington demonstrated speed by achieving two podium finishes back to back during the annual summer speedweek, along with other runs in the top-10.
“It was an overall solid week for us,” stated Matt. “The car was fast pretty much all week and we were competitive. Every night ended in the top-five or top-ten except Lubbock, where the power steering gear bracket broke. We were even able to grab two 3rd place finishes at Amarillo and Devil’s Bowl. We had a shot at a win the last night at Lucas Oil, starting up front. But the motor laid down and started fading about mid-way through the race and we rode it out to 7th. But it was a good week and we were able to pull off some solid heats and qualifiers along with the feature finishes that netted us 4th in the overall speedweek points. If it wasn’t for the steering bracket the first night and motor the last night, we may have been higher in points. That heightens my excitement for the Northwest swing. Me and Tyler have been working well together the last month and he has given me some fast race cars to drive as of late.”
