Matt Covington's ASCS Speedweeks Round 1-Texarkana
Covington Motorsports rolled into Texarkana for what hoped to be a successful night to start off the ASCS Speedweeks. It started off as good as anybody could have hoped for, with a front row draw Matt would start the heat on the front row and go on to take Heat race #2 win. The heat win would give Matt enough points to lock himself into the redraw. This is were the night would start to change. Matt's hopes of a good starting spot was not to be. He pulled pill #8 to put him fourth row outside. The Covington Motorsports team had there work cut out as the track was becoming super, super dry slick. As the green flag drop all 22 cars made it through turn 1&2 and down the back stretch. As the race began, bad luck continued to follow as Matt drove it off into turns 3&4, Tony Bruce was coming hard on the bottom and slid up into Matt bending the tie rod and drag link. The tow was severly knock out, while the drag link got pushed into the headers. Matt hung around at the tail of the field to limp the Covington Motorsports Wesmar,Maxim to an 18th place finish.
With repairs made the Covington Motorsports team will have the car ready to rock for the next ASCS National Speedweeks race at Little Rock I-30 Speedway for round #2. Stay in tune with Matt through the team website, www.mattcovington95.com and a very special thanks goes out to T&L Foundry, C.G.
